Mural Reflection
Coming up with ideas- When coming up with ideas in the group it was not hard because everyone agreed to have something that represented them. Also it filled the overall message; which was "communication" because we felt our work always needed to tell a story. Our goal was if a person viewed our mural that the person would understand what message was trying to be express. Lastly, we wanted everyone to feel comfortable with the idea, "communication" can be a form of story telling.
Working in a group- When working in a group, we all came together stating each individual should have two individual jobs. My two individual jobs was drawing the birds(pigeons) and the sound waves. I was drawing the pigeons because carrier pigeons are a form of communicating with other people and i was also drawing the sound waves because it could be used to show the different tones each individual person has. Working in the group wasn't hard because everyone was open to everyone suggestions.
How I feel about the mural project- Even though we used a limited pallet it didn't limit our capabilities in perfecting a well develop mural. I feel the mural was a success because our message of "communication" was seen by the class, when the class viewed my group's mural during the critique. I felt there was no conflict in the group, everyone work great together and the mural shows we worked hard. I feel the mural project was done well because my group and I took our time and it shows.
Favorite Muralist
My favorite muralist is Diego Rivera because all of his work have a message. Inside the message it talks about Mexican oppression and how communism was an ideal way to govern a country. I like how his art pieces don't look paintings. Each piece have great value that captures an interesting feature and tone.
I have no favorite art piece but I do like how Diego Rivera's art works show communism due to the fact it was a major fact in this time period. Also express the Mexican oppression as a nation and how the people were treated as. None of Diego Rivera's art works have neon colors but show dark colors with passion. I'm very interested in how communist idea's help Mexicans grow out of poverty.
It's interesting that Diego Rivera was seen as a threat to Americans because he believed in communist idea. And many of Diego Rivera's art works wasn't shown in america's public eye because of communist ideals, and was replaced by other artist and their art work's. I'm very inspired by Diego Rivera commitment to his ideas and wanted others to see his struggle.
